Embracing Creativity in Guilin, China 🌟🎨

At the end of May, I had the incredible opportunity to present at the prestigious C-IDEA CONNECTIONS conference in Guilin, China. Here’s a glimpse into my experience in this vibrant city:

🌟 Guilin, China: A Fusion of Creativity and Culture

Day 1: C-IDEA Connections Conference

My adventure began at the C-IDEA CONNECTIONS conference where I delivered a talk titled, Integrating Ethical Dimensions: A Cross-Cultural Inquiry into the Creative Integrity of Poster Design.

This was alongside presenters from around the globe all invited to share their design research, projects and ideas, truly making connections. It was also an honour to participate in the C-IDEA design awards ceremony, presenting awards to the amazing winning designers. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with creative minds from around the globe.

Day 2: Drawing Out Your Fears Workshop with Jesse Thompson

The next day, I conducted a full-day workshop with the brilliant @Jesse Thompson titled Drawing Out Your Fears. We collaborated with students at the Guilin University of Electronic Technology, guiding them to create amazing drawings that depicted their triumphs over personal fears. Witnessing their artistic expressions was truly inspiring.

Day 3: Exhibitions and Panel Discussions

The morning was filled with an amazing exhibition of the student work created from all the workshops yesterday. I was astounded at the diverse display of talent and the quality of the outcomes from all the different workshops. It was an amazing experience.

We then visited the Beijing Opera Art International Poster Biennale and the Europe Theatre Posters exhibition at the Guangxi Normal University Press Art Museum, where my poster design was featured. The day culminated with an intellectually stimulating panel discussion on poster design with artists and designers from various countries. The exchange of ideas was enriching and eye-opening.

Day 4: Cultural Exploration

Guilin’s cultural charm truly captivated me as we took a 3-hour boat trip along the river through the mountains. It felt like sailing through a giant watercolour painting—absolutely breathtaking! The day ended with a fabulous dinner and a cultural show at Guilin’s Romance Park. I am immensely grateful to Li Xu for the invitation and his impeccable organisation. 🌟

These experiences in Guilin have not only broadened my professional horizon but also enriched my cultural understanding. I am humbled by the recognition and grateful for the opportunity to share my work with a global audience. 🌍✨
