As part of the 20th-anniversary celebrations at the NTU School of Art, Design & Media (ADM), I’m proud to present The Posters of Li Xu, a solo exhibition showcasing the powerful, ideographic typography of one of Asia’s most influential designers.

Li Xu—founder and art director of Beijing Art A&B Design—explores Chinese characters not as static signs but as living visual forms. His posters communicate through the expressive potential of the brushstroke, revealing how typography can transcend language and culture. This striking contrast to the phonetic systems of the West invites viewers to reflect on how we understand meaning in design.

This show is the third in a series of poster design exhibitions I’ve had the privilege to curate. Supporting the poster design community is a personal and professional mission I care deeply about — from giving visibility to global voices, to fostering a deeper appreciation of this powerful medium among students, designers, and the public.

The exhibition runs from 1–10 April at ADM, and we’re also excited to host a hands-on workshop with Li Xu on campus soon. Stay tuned for details — and if you’re in Singapore, don’t miss this opportunity to engage with truly impactful design work.
